WHAT IS IMPROV?

Improvisational comedy is a form of live theatre in which a performance is created in the moment, with players creating the characters, dialogue and action as they go.

A popular art-form in its own right, improvisation is also an important tool for writers, comedians and pretty much everybody. The requirement for building ideas with others requires keen listening skills, collaboration and creativity. Improvisers around the world have developed principles through shared experience which make those skills easier to learn and apply.

You don't need any experience to learn the skills of improv, and everyone has experiences, a point of view, and a creative flair to bring to the class and stage.

WHAT IS SKETCH?

Three Things Comedy offers courses in the creation of sketch comedy. Through writing exercises and comedy theory you will be able to craft and hone a comedic premise through physical or audio sketches.

Some of the courses combine improv and sketch, using the spark of collaborative creation to hone comedic ideas that can then be translated into sketch comedy.

WHAT IS STORYTELLING?

Storytelling explore the tools and techniques to capture an audiences attention and to ignite their imagination. Many of the courses in storytelling offered at Three Things Comedy build towards live storytelling- gaining the confidence and skills to tell a truthful story in front of an audience.
